ok, ok, iiiiiiiiiii don't have a lemon tree, but my cousin does! in fact, she has several and with those trees come lemons, loads of them. inundated with citrus, she started a blog called 'i have a lemon tree.'

little cousin, i know you need more lemons like a hole in the head, but these are for you.

3rd annual pig and beer party

third time's a charm! 

sunday was our third year of celebrating national pig and beer day. our friends braved the storm bearing extravagant pork-i-fied gifts. if it didn't have pork in it, than it complimented the pig in some way.

to list a bit of the savory... pulled pork, sausage and peppers, pigs in a blanket, prosciutto and melon, proscuitto mac 'n cheese, rosemary tenderloin, bacon-wrapped figs, pickeled collard greens, quino salad, beet salad, orange and endive salad, assorted meats and cheeses, parlez-vous du porc sammy from beirkraft, pork buns, dumplings...

some of the sweets... praline popcorn, meyer lemon cake, doughnuts from dough, banana bread, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip peanut butter cookies, smores cupcakes, and yes, pigglet-shaped rice krispie treats...

the event would not have been complete without the contributions of mr. fred raphael, the 2011 people's choice award winner at the brooklyn bell house's word's biggest jerk off competition. fred did up some jerky and ribs for us and also brought an assortment of breads with meat baked into them.

cranberry stained fingers

this is my 7th christmas in ny, but it is my 1st christmas with a tree.

roommate and i bought our 4 footer on saturday. today, with stained fingers, we hung the cranberry garland and topped the tree with a homemade felt star (inspired by annekata).

we even have a gift under the tree already. the talented steph hung, loyal customer of purl's and friend of mine, dropped off this beautifully wrapped package for me. cannot wait to see what she made. fingers crossed that it's knit.

i got a new point-and-shoot camera. who knew cameras don't come with cases anymore. i made this pouch real quick to replace the sock i was using. i will probably do another (nicer) pouch, but this will work for the time being.
